Lighting Industry Unites for Cancer Benefit

The recent Lightovation show in Dallas  brought together members of the industry not only to view new products, but to unite on video for a worthwhile cause that hits close to home. This month marks the much-anticipated annual Goombay Bash, held in Chicago at Navy Pier on July 29, to raise money for the H Foundation as well as for Basic Science Research’s efforts to find a cure for cancer.

At this year’s event, the first-ever Guiding Light Award will be bestowed on six vendors who have supported the Goombay Bash and the H Foundation since the beginning.

The team at Bravo Business Media, publisher of enLIGHTenment Magazine, is a proud supporter of this event as well as the efforts of its founder John Rot of Hortons Home Lighting in Chicago, who has raised industry awareness and significant funding dollars to benefit cancer research.

“When we were creating the Goombay Bash, we never imagined what a bunch of friends could accomplish. We have discovered that ‘Cancer is personal,’ but not only to us. The passion to make a difference was shared by our entire industry,” Rot states. “Most of all, we  will celebrate and honor the lighting industry as a whole…coming together collectively for our ‘brightest’ showing yet.  Please consider joining us on July 29th at the Aon Grand Ballroom at Navy Pier.”
