If you’ve bought or sold decorative pieces in the high-end of the lighting and home furnishings category, you have probably already appreciated the work of Rick Janecek.
After lengthy creative directorships at Neiman Marcus, Global Views, and Ambella Home, Janecek broke out on his own (with business partner Sheila Butler) with the introduction of his own lighting, furniture, and home accents line called Handley Drive just two years ago. Texas-based Handley Drive was well-received at the Atlanta, High Point, and Las Vegas Markets, where it has been shown in the Codarus rep group space.
This week, Rocky Mount, Va.-based manufacturer Uttermost has acquired Handley Drive for its relatively new REVELATION brand and brought Janecek on board as Creative Director. “REVELATION has grown at a very rapid pace since its debut three-and-a-half years ago,” states Mac Cooper, President of Uttermost, adding, “REVELATION is getting a major infusion of talent with the addition of Rick.”
In the newly created position of REVELATION Creative Director, Janecek is expected to take the brand to new heights and “follow a creative path that is more independent of Uttermost.”
Uttermost has acquired the assets of Janecek’s Handley Drive company, and a portion of its product line will be on display in the REVELATION showroom at the upcoming Spring High Point market.
“Rick will bring a fresh design perspective to REVELATION for placement across multiple lifestyles. Originality, extreme attention to detail, and design innovation is obvious in every piece he designs,” Cooper affirms.
REVELATION will continue to see product development from some of its other key designers, under the guidance of Janecek.
