IN MEMORIAM: Ken Gale

Lighting industry veteran Kenneth D. Gale of Boca Raton, Fla., passed away on June 23 at age 87. He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Marilyn Gale; daughters, Eydie (John) Bowe, and Robin (Brian) Singer; sons, Mark (Barbara Medina) Gale, and Andrew (Draisa);  grandchildren, Shaun, Ashley, Evan, David, Sarah, Daniel, Andrew, Jennifer, and Nina; great-grandchildren, Audrey, Ella, Logan, Mila, Dylan, and Charlee Rose. Contributions may be made in his memory to the charity of one’s choice.

Ken was the founder of the renowned lighting sales agency Ken Gale & Associates, headquartered in Boca Raton, Fla., which represents Maxim/ET2 and Justice Design Group lighting in Southern Florida as well as operates its own custom/hospitality division also known as Diamond Lighting.

Diamond Lighting came about in 1960 when Ken Gale, Larry Falk, and Harry Shell – who were partners in Finland House – purchased Mount Lighting and Fixtures. Their new company, Diamond Lighting, produced custom-designed contract lighting fixtures for hospitality and luxury residential projects in New York, City, Miami Beach, Las Vegas, and other major cities throughout the country, working with leading architectural and interior design firms.

In 1976 Diamond Lighting moved its headquarters to South Florida and continued as a major supplier of custom lighting fixtures for contract, hospitality, and luxury residential multi-family housing projects. Diamond Lighting is now a multi-generational family business led by Ken’s son Mark; Evan Gale is vice president of Ken Gale & Associates.
