Hong Kong International Lighting Fair Sets Record

More than 2,100 exhibitors from 31 countries and regions – a new record – took part in the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) Hong Kong International Lighting Fair’s Autumn Edition, which ran last week at the Hong Kong Convention & Exhibition Centre October 27-30. Among the first-time exhibitors were companies from the Cayman Islands, Finland, and Sweden.

The Fair welcomed 70+ buying missions from 60 countries and regions, representing more than 5,530 buyers and such companies as Colinter from France, Daewoo International Corp. from Korea, Elektrika from Russia, plus Hogarlux SL and Lumen’s from Spain.

Among the Fair’s highlights was the Hall of Aurora, a brand-name pavilion featuring close to 400 brands worldwide including ASFOUR, Bridgelux, BJB, Citizen, CREE, EGLO, Everlight, Fulham, Fumagalli, MEGAMAN, Midea, Neo-Neon, OPTILED, OSRAM, Panasonic, Philips, RICOH, Seoul Semiconductor, and Viri Bright.

In the specially designated LED & Green Lighting Zone that catered to the strong demand for LED, energy-saving and other environmentally friendly products, there were more than 780 exhibitors. Other categories with separate exhibit areas were the Lighting in Style product display, the World of Table Lamps, Commercial Lighting, Household Lighting, Outdoor Lighting, Lighting Accessories, Parts & Components, Lighting Management, Design & Technology, and Trade Services & Publications.

During the Fair, buyers and exhibitors had ample opportunity to discuss industry issues and trends at the various seminars which covered such topics as the latest LED lighting application trends, LED lighting regulations and standards, and market and design trends. During the Hong Kong Solid State Lighting Industry Conference, held at the Fair, industry experts discussed key developments in Hong Kong’s solid-state lighting industry.

Next year, the HKTDC will present the Hong Kong International Lighting Fair’s Spring Edition as a stand-alone show April 6-9 to allow more exhibitors and buyers to attend.
