The H Foundation: Goombay Bash Unites Industry for Good Cause

Started 11 years ago by lighting industry veterans John Rot and David Rizner of Horton’s in  La Grange, Ill. and members of their surrounding community after two beloved Horton’s employees lost their battles with cancer, the Caribbean-themed Goombay Bash celebrates love, life, and community spirit. Under the entity “The H Foundation,” the group has raised over $3.5 million (more than $575,000 in 2010 alone) and judging from the crowd at this past weekend’s event, the Robert H. Lurie Comprehensive Cancer Center of Northwestern University will be able to add another sizable amount to the cause.

One of the most anticipated aspects of The Goombay Bash is the giant auction (which this year included a host of donated items that ranged from table lamps to an autographed surfboard signed by actress Jane Lynch from the TV show Glee). Many lighting industry members flew in from all areas of the country to join in solidarity and support the cause. Make a donation to the H Foundation.
