There will be some noticeable traffic pattern changes for lighting buyers attending the upcoming Lightovation: Dallas International Lighting Show in January as the corner atrium space held by Feiss for many years will become home to another company, pending official confirmation from the Dallas Market Center (DMC).
Generation Lighting – which is comprised of Feiss, Sea Gull, and Monte Carlo – will be moving to the first floor of the relatively newly created Interior Home + Design Center (IHDC), formerly known as the International Floral & Gift Center and later renamed the International Trade Plaza. Tech Lighting will also be relocating from its fourth floor Trade Mart showroom to a new IHDC space.
The IHDC – officially opened last summer as a venue the DMC describes as “an open-daily home décor marketplace exclusively for interior designers and the trade” – has so far attracted 20+ destination showrooms including Taylors (formerly Taylors on Ten), Visual Comfort, Phillips Collection, Palecek, Zuo, and most recently Global Views. The IHDC is accessible from the ground floor atrium of the World Market Center and has a dedicated entrance, valet parking, and a reception staff as well as separate entrances to several individual showrooms that are adjacent to the parking lot for buyer convenience.
The increase in lighting and home décor companies in the IHDC location will alter the routine path of lighting buyers used to traversing the Trade Mart and higher floors of the World Market Center for their lighting needs. The move also broadens the exposure of these lighting companies to the Dallas-area design community on a daily basis, independent of market dates.
Visual Comfort Group – which has exhibited in the Taylors on Ten space for many years before relocating with Taylors last year – will increase its IHDC presence by 25,000 square feet. The grand opening of the expanded showroom in Taylors, as well as the new Generation Lighting showroom and the Tech Lighting space will coincide with January 2019 Lightovation: Dallas International Lighting Show slated for January 16-20.
“We are truly grateful for our partnership with the Dallas Market Center,” says Visual Comfort Group’s CEO Andy Singer. “The investments the Visual Comfort Group continues to make in the DMC demonstrates our commitment to both the lighting community and to the Dallas Market Center as North America’s largest residential lighting marketplace. Dallas is the place you need to be when it comes to lighting. Our expansion with Taylors and our new Generation Lighting showroom will enable us to provide a synergistic and more enjoyable customer experience.”
According to Cindy Morris, President & CEO of DMC, “The scale and depth of this investment by Visual Comfort Group is unprecedented and further cements their long-term partnership with our growing marketplace. Moreover, this commitment affirms Dallas Market Center’s position as the dominant marketplace for companies serving both the retail showroom channel and the interior design channel throughout the year.”
