Lighting Controls: A Look Into the Future

Whether it was at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES),  the International Builders’ Show, K/BIS, or Dallas Market, most of the technological innovation revolved around controlling everything in our homes via our tablets and smartphones.

The company has released two new integration capabilities for its affordable, easy-to-install smart home system Caséta Wireless. The updates include Samsung SmartThings™ – Caséta Wireless customers can connect its system dimmers and Lutron Serena Shades to the Samsung SmartThings app, providing another option of control and convenience for a more complete smart home; and Nest Cam – by leveraging the intelligence of Nest’s person alerts, Caséta Wireless dimmers and switches can now turn on when a person is detected by Nest Cam Indoor or Outdoor providing additional security and peace of mind. www.lutron.com

The company added three new devices – an electronic low-voltage dimmer, a 0-10V LED/
Mark 7® fluorescent dimmer, and a Quiet Fan speed control – to its existing line of Decora® digital controls with Bluetooth® technology.
These devices provide the ability to dim and time lighting or manage a fan’s speed without the need of a hub, gateway, or Internet connection. Users simply pair the device with the Leviton Decora digital dimmer & timer app and use on-screen menu options to control lights or fan speed with Apple or Android smartphones or tablets within a 30-foot range.

The Decora Digital Electronic Low-Voltage Dimmer is compatible with ELV, dimmable LED, dimmable CFL, incandescent, or halogen loads. The Decora Digital 0-10V LED/ Mark 7 Fluorescent Dimmer is designed for use with LED and fluorescent ballasts and fixtures using 1-10V power supplies. The latest updates to the adorne Wi-Fi lighting system is comprised of the Hub, a backend control center that communicates with all of adorne’s Wi-Fi-ready light switches, and the new Legrand Lighting Control App that together control lights throughout the home from any location, whether the user is at home or away.

The upgraded system makes installation and operation of wireless lighting technology easier and more convenient than ever, keeping in step with today’s technology trends in which homeowners control home systems and products from their smart devices.
