  1. Would be great if publications would not promote “knock offs” of original designs. While I’ll assume you didn’t know, your Arteriors featured “Yale” design is a take off on a Sergio Terzani Collection which Maxim also did a direct knock off of as well. Shame, shame on them both. “To be authentic and original Is far too rare a quality in design, almost as rare as integrity and innovation in business.”

    1.  Unfortunately, the lighting industry (like many others) has been plagued with knock-offs of terrific designs.  Naturally trade and consumer publications would not knowingly publicize a knock-off, but with so many designs that are produced regularly from so many companies all over the world (Terzani, which is the one you mentioned, is from Italy), it’s virtually impossible for any publication — or even a retailer — to ferret out the origin of every design that is out there. I agree with you that it is a shame that many companies resort to producing knock-offs, and furthermore, it’s not fair at all to the originator of that design. The problem is so pervasive that even manufacturers don’t have the manpower or budget to launch an exhaustive search of that magnitude. I understand your viewpoint completely.
