H FOUNDATION PRESENTS GUIDING LIGHT AWARD TO GREGG GAROFALO OF LIGHTING ONE
The Chicago-based H Foundation,
a nonpro t organization that funds basic science research to cure can-
cer, awarded its 2nd annual “Guiding Light Award” to Gregg Garofalo, President of the cooperative Lighting One, in recogni- tion for his continued dedication to raising money and awareness to cure the disease that now a ects 1 in 3 people.
“Cancer is personal and understanding the power of that experience has been our inspiration,” says John Rot, H Foundation
Board President & Owner of Horton’s Home Lighting in LaGrange, Illinois. “Gregg knows this all too well. Even as his wife was diagnosed, and he helped her to ba le this horrible disease, he rallied others to the cause of  nding a cure. He inspired all of us to keep  ghting in honor of those we’ve lost.”
The H Foundation hosts its signature fundraiser, The Goombay Bash, at Navy Pier in Chicago. The annual event is driven by a sense of community and shared pur- pose. The grassroots spirit is epitomized in the message that “Cancer Is Personal,” a ecting families, friends, neighbors, colleagues, and employees.
Since its inception in 2001, the organi- zation has raised nearly $8 million to fund research at the Robert H. Lurie Compre- hensive Cancer Center of Northwestern University, which has earned $50+ million in additional grants that has led to clinical

The  rst “Guiding Light Award” was
presented last year to lighting industry companies Generation Lighting, Hinkley, Kichler, Quoizel, Satco, and WAC Lighting to honor their long-term commitment to the H Foundation and to recognize their consistent and enduring e orts to fund basic science research to  nd a cure for cancer.
Beginning with 2018, the “Guiding Light Award” will be given annually to an individual who personally exempli es the leadership qualities that will guide others towards a brighter future in which no one will su er the hardships of this horrible disease.
