Susan Solomon Auerbach Joins Hubbardton Forge Board
Castleton, Vt.-based Hubbardton Forge has named industry veteran Susan Solomon Auerbach to its Board of Managers. For nearly 30 years, Solomon Auerbach has been influential in the lighting industry’s growth and development through her involvement as a company executive at one of the major lighting manufacturers and through her many roles in the American Lighting Association (ALA).
Solomon Auerbach worked in her family’s business, Sea Gull Lighting, from 1982 to 2005 before serving as executive vice president of Generation Brands from 2005 to 2010. She has not only influenced Sea Gull Lighting and Generation Brands’ business efforts, but also the design and direction of their wide‐ranging product, sales, and customer relations activities.
The first female member of the ALA to sit on the Manufacturer’s Board of Governors, Solomon Auerbach proactively supported ALA committees and programs including the Board of Governors, BiNational Task Force, Manufacturers’ Board of Directors, and the Executive Board. During her tenure as chairperson of the ALA’s Public Relations Committee, a bi‐national advertising program was created and implemented that dramatically increased consumer awareness of the importance of the home lighting category.
For these and other long‐term efforts for the ALA, Solomon Auerbach was honored with the ALA’s Lighting Person of the Year Award in 1993. In addition to an industry leadership award in 2001, she also accepted the Accessories Resource Team’s ART Award for excellence in manufacturing. In 2009, Ms. Solomon Auerbach was inducted into the ALA Hall of Fame.
