LEDucation completed its 9th consecutive show in New York City with steady attendance despite a significant snowstorm affecting the New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut region.

Neither snow nor rain nor heat nor gloom of night kept the architectural community of Manhattan and its surrounding boroughs from stopping in to the Sheraton NY Times Square to peruse the variety of lighting products and companies on display at LEDucation 9 and attend educational seminars. enLIGHTenment Magazine is one of the sponsors of the yearly event.

With 230+ leading manufacturers from the U.S., Canada, and Europe exhibiting the latest solid-state lighting technologies and products, LEDucation hosted its largest event in its 9-year history. The two-day educational event and tabletop expo attracted 1,500 attendees within the first two hours of opening despite a record snowfall that resulted in the closing of major roads and some public transportation.

As one of the industry’s largest events dedicated to LED technology, this annual event historically draws thousands of lighting designers, interior designers, architects, engineers, students, facility managers, building owners from New York and other major Northeast cities such as Boston and Philadelphia as well as Canada and even the West Coast. With an overall attendance of more than 3,000, LEDucation has earned a reputation for being a “must-see” event in the lighting industry.

As a pre-eminent educational event presented by the Designers Lighting Forum of NY (DLFNY), LEDucation offered a record number of 17 accredited sessions with courses covering topics as diverse as the basics of LED lighting to healthcare lighting, wireless controls, designing with OLED, lighting design, codes and compliance, and other topics. All sessions were designed to offer a versatile selection of beginner, intermediate, and advanced courses with special architectural lighting presentations focused on the interior designer followed by a special docent-guided tour of the show floor.  To share the educational sessions with those who were not able to attend, all of the presentations will be available for viewing online with daily session videos to be posted at www.LEDucation.org.

LEDucation 9 covered a record 29,400 net square feet of the Sheraton NY Times Square hotel and featured two new events: “Mission Control” and the “Light It Up” reception. The exhibit space featuring 230+ companies was sold out within one month of opening registration and currently  90% of LEDucation 9 exhibitors have pre-registered for next year’s 10th anniversary event.
