About Cohn Restaurant Group
For more than 33 years, David and Lesley Cohn have brought San Diego dining to a new level. Beginning with one small diner in 1981, their company (Cohn Restaurant Group) now owns and operates approximately 25 restaurants within Southern California and Maui.
The couple is proud of their family-owned and operated business, which is run with the help of their daughter Jessica, their son Jeremy, and their son-in-law Mike. The Cohns make it a priority to be involved in all aspects of their eateries. While each restaurant varies wildly in terms of food and design, what they all have in common is the Cohns’ obsession with hospitality. Their philosophy focuses on superior service and aesthetic comfort.
“Our aim is not simply to please our guests, but to make them so happy that the last thing they say to themselves as they are leaving is ‘I cannot wait to come back,’” Lesley Cohn has said. Her husband, David, expressed a similar sentiment, “People celebrate their lives in restaurants. It is our job to create an experience worth remembering.”
It’s not just the atmosphere of their restaurants that has gotten great reviews, so has the food. Many of the family’s restaurants have earned restaurant awards in the San Diego area, including the San Diego Gold Medallion Awards and Gaslamp Quarter Association Lamplighter Awards. David and Lesley Cohn have also been recognized for their strong community and industry support, receiving the Gaslamp Quarter Historic Association Vision Award, the San Diego Press Club’s Entrepreneurs of the Year Award, recognition from the San Diego City Schools for Exemplary Support and Commitment to Partnerships in Education, and the Better Business Bureau Torch Award for Marketplace Ethics.
